Monahans, Texas is located in an area where Comanches, Mescalero and Lipan Apaches once roamed.

The Texas-New Mexico Railroad operates a 104 mile branch that connects Monahans with Lovington, New Mexico.

Monahans is in the 250 miles wide, 300 miles long, Permian Basin. Monahans is known as "The Center of the Permian Basin."

The Permian Period was at the end of the Paleozoic Era. Monahans at that point in time was an ocean filled with aquatic life.
