Do BBQ

For over a year the opening of Central Market in south Fort Worth has been hyped. It's Grand Opening happened to coincide with Mom and Dad's last day in the Metroplex. They had been reading and hearing the hype ever since they got here and so, with the promise of oodles of free samples, they did not object to checking out Central Market. When we got to the location cops had to control the traffic jam. Somehow we found a place to park. And then we saw the long line of people waiting to get into the store. As it was quite hot and humid there was no way mom was going to wait in that line.....so we found a back way in. Nothing was going to keep us from those free samples.

Here we are inside, waiting for cream cheese and salmon to be spread on a bagel. We escaped Central Market after finding all the samples we could find. The Stockyards and Texas BBQ was our next destination.

This photo makes it appear as if Dad is carrying a purse. This is inside a shopping area called Stockyard Station. The Tarantula Train runs thru here. Can you spot Mom?

Here we see the shoppers, with Dad now not appearing to be carrying a purse, walking by the Tarantula Train.

This bench appears to have offered some relief from the shopping strains.

I was sent out to the main drag of the Stockyards to go to a store we had been in during a previous visit, to see if they now had a windsock flag we had been trying to locate. Upon my return I found Mom and Dad now both sitting on the bench....it's time to go to Riscky's and get some barbecue and await the passing of the Fort Worth Herd. I believe we ate about a quarter of a cow.

Mom tried to keep the barbecue sauce cleaned off of Dad's face. But after awhile she gave up. It's about time for the 4 o'clock running of the Fort Worth Herd.

The Fort Worth Herd comes into view. That two legged creature in red is not a longhorn.

I think I heard mom yell yeehaw. And the cowboy yelled back that he heard a Yankee.

On and on the Longhorns slowly march down the street. I mean
trail.

After the Fort Worth Herd we drove to the far north end of the Metroplex to do some more siteseeing, ending up at Texas Lil's Dude Ranch. A big thunderstorm was developing. By the time we got back to the RV Park the storm had made its way to the south end of the Metroplex. The storm lasted for hours and dropped a lot of rain and hail and noisy lightning bolts. I called this morning to make sure they made it dry through the night and they were already on their way, on I-20, heading west, almost out of the Metroplex. Mom said it was a very noisy night. There was some tornado danger, so they got the entire Big Weather Experience for their last night here.....it was fun having them here. Click here to start the visit all over again...
