After harvesting, the cabbage was sold
at 'veiling' (auction). Buyers came from other European countries,
especially Germany. We can imagine that Cornelis and his son Jan (John),
did what these boys are doing in these photos. 'Zuurkool' (sauerkraut) was
made from much of the cabbage.
